After every student in a particular homeschool has been enrolled by the Institute for Academic Outreach, students will receive codes for installation of software or access via the Internet.
Please Note: Students who have not completed the registration process by submitting both the Responsibility for Payment Form and the Online Application should not be given software access.
Web Platform Software Installation Instructions
Each student’s software package looks like the image above – it is a cardboard envelope titled Precalculus that contains a sheet of installation instructions. Don’t worry when you see the Precalculus title! This same software is used for both College Algebra and Plane Trigonometry as well as Precalculus.
Return or Retention of Extra Software
If a student decides to withdraw from the course before having opened their software package, please mail it back to The Institute for Academic Outreach. Once a piece of software is opened, it cannot be returned and the student must pay for it.
Software Access Options
Option One: Web Access (and Chromebook Use)
Homechools may access the software via the web without installing software on a local computer. Once a proctor has been identified it will be important to determine what computer will be used for the purposes of testing.
Option Two: Installation of Student Software on the Homeschool’s Computers
Because most students in a homeschool environment will be seeking the services of a proctor outside the home, it will probably be most efficient to access the Hawkes system by the web for testing. However, in the event that software must be installed on a computer at the proctoring site, the following instructions apply.
Once installed, the software program can be accessed by clicking the icon on the desktop.
