The Truman Institute

The Truman Institute is responsible for planning all conferences and events that involve groups from off campus, groups that are generating revenue, or groups that are partnering with off-campus entities to hold an event.  Typically these events involve the use of both classroom and Student Union space, or just classroom space.  The Truman Institute becomes the central point of contact for managing relationships with rentals, catering, housing, and other billable services.

Student Union-Based Events

Events that only operate in the Student Union building, or events by student organizations that are only designed to serve as meetings or events for that organization, can still make their arrangements through the Student Union.  Student Union reservations can be reached at (660) 785-4186 or lyager@truman.edu

We work together with the Student Union, Sodexo Dining Services, and Residential Living to provide you with the best possible services.  Please begin your conference planning services with our office before contacting individual departments or services.

Discount Policy

All clients requesting the use of Truman facilities are presumed to receive services at customary rates established by the market for these services.  Different organizations, departments, and outside groups may be eligible for discounts based on the purpose of the organization or event and how it relates to the University's mission.  All groups requesting conference services should complete this questionnaire to determine their eligibility for discount rates.  Based on this questionnaire, and the particulars of your program, our office will make a determination about the appropriate discount to apply.
