Why Have a Typical Vacation? Have a...

TruAdventure!

July 13-20, 2013

TruAdventure is a summer excursion like no other - combining a great wilderness experience with wonderful learning and social opportunities.  This seven-day program will reinvigorate your passion for the outdoors, your love of learning, and your sense of adventure as you visit breathtaking sites in the Badlands, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks.  Based on a wildly popular travel course designed for Truman undergraduates, TruAdventure has been adapted to meet the needs and interests of the adult traveler interested in a vacation that's just a little off the beaten path.

Tour Summary

Participants will visit the magnificent scenery of Yellowstone National Park, including the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone area, Devil's Cauldron, Hayden Valley, and the Yellowstone geyser features, falls, and springs.  The excursion will transition to the Grant Tetons where adventurers will explore Cascade Canyon, Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, and Solitude Lake.  Whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and optional rock climbing are included in the package.  Participants have the option of departing from (and returning to) either Kirksville or Jackson, Wyoming.  Travelers from Kirksville will also enjoy an overnight in Badlands National Park en route to Yellowstone for a small premium.

Designed for adventurers of all ages, this trip welcomes outdoors enthusiasts and inquisitive minds from college age to the "sassy senior."  You will be invigorated by the breathtaking views, mild to moderately challenging hikes, ever-present wildlife, and fascinating geology, biology, and people.

What's best?  All travel is guided by Truman faculty and staff, experienced in outdoor education, trained for wilderness safety, and thoroughly knowledgeable about visited sites.

Participation rates: $1500*
